Moving To The Bush!!

The day finally arrived! We were able to move into our little house in the bush this past Saturday, and I can’t begin to tell you how happy we are.

We began building our little house in March or April of this past year and were hoping to have it finished by August, 2010. Well, things don’t always go as you plan here on the field and one delay led to another. The months moved quickly along leaving August behind and still no house.

We kept the faith and kept on building as workers, weather and supplies allowed. Believe me, balancing these three is no easy task. Sometimes, we had workers but no supplies, then visa-versa. Then there were times we had both but the weather would decide to turn bad and unleash enough rain to keep the Mississippi running for a year.

Through all of this, we slowly made our way towards the completion of this project. As the locals here say, “Slo slo nomo” (slow and steady).

In November and December we made a push to get the house done, but between our American holidays and the local holidays, there wasn’t much time to spare. Getting workers during December was like pulling teeth! The nationals like to take the months of December and January off for their Christmas holiday. So, finally in mid-January, Bryan and I were able to finish up the last few necessities and Jen and I were clear to move in.

There are still a few things left to be done, but I have my list and am still poking away at it day by day. Jen is also in the midst of making this little bush house into a home. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

God sees what we have need of and will give all good things in His time. We don’t understand why it took so long to build a little 750 sq/ft house, but we have always trusted and still do trust that God has ordered everything to work out in His timing.

Next project: build a school building in a month and a half!

Here are a few new pics:

We will try to get more taken and posted on our next trip to town.
